Merix E-Coin: Embedded Thermal Management RoHS Compliant Lead-Free Solutions Design for Manufacturability Merix Corporation has developed a patent-pending process for embedding discrete solid copper pedestals into the printed circuit board. This technology conducts component heat through the PCB directly to the chassis with the option of electrically grounding to internal plane layers of the board. The ban of substances such as lead from electronic products has created the need for base material to withstand higher soldering temperatures. Merix has developed a comprehensive qualification process for lead-free “capable” materials.
